About ASU
Marking its first hundred years, Arkansas State University continues to expand in exciting ways.
Ms. Linda Moncrief

As a retired teacher, Linda Moncrief knows there are many good students who cannot afford a college education, and is pleased to honor her parents, Walter L. and Helen S. Moncrief, by establishing a scholarship in their name at Arkansas State University.
Walter and Helen were from Cross County, where he played basketball at Cherry Valley High School, and she was valedictorian at Parkin High School. The couple married shortly before he was drafted during World War II. Helen graduated from a business college in Memphis and was secretary for the Cross County Schools, and after the war, they moved to Memphis, where Walter worked for Firestone as a store service manager and tire salesman for 30 years. He sold tires to many Arkansas farmers. Later, eight of their family members graduated from or attended Arkansas State University.
"My parents would be thrilled to know there are worthy Arkansas students who will have the opportunity to graduate from college and have a better life," said Linda.
