Chris Vanlandingham
Endowed Scholarship Fund
Chris grew up in Central Arkansas. He said he never realized how little his family had financially until he came up for an audition for an A-State music scholarship; after receiving a scholarship offer immediately following his audition, Vanlandingham's father told him it would not be enough to finance his education, and Chris would have to find additional funding.
Luckily for Chris, he qualified as part of the inaugural group of Trustee's Scholarship recipients. He started at A-State as a 16-year-old, where he said the help and guidance from faculty and staff made all the difference in his education.
Because A-State is the place he learned, "there's always room at the top, but the middle is very crowded," Vanlandingham has designated a portion of his estate to Arkansas State with the hopes of positively affecting lives in the positive way he said A-State gave him his start in life.
