Mrs. Melissa Myers Hendricks
– Scholarship in Communications
Melissa was a junior in high school when she decided on Arkansas State University. It was the first time she attended a different school than her twin sister, Melody, and was the first time people learned her name and didn't call her "one of the twins." She lived at University Hall and was active on campus, participating in the Honors Association and Student Government, and serving as a Presidential Ambassador, Herald reporter, and student employee in the Public Relations Office. Melissa graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1995 with a journalism/public relations degree and was a Distinguished Service Award honoree.
Melissa has had a 22-year career in public relations and nonprofit fundraising. She is currently director of development for the UAMS College of Medicine. As the first person in her family to graduate from college (her sister graduated a week after), Melissa believes that because of her education and experience at Arkansas State, she has a rewarding career and meaningful friendships. She enjoys visiting her alma mater, and is proud to leave a legacy to a university that means so much to her.
