The Earl and Bruce DeVore Agriculture Scholarship Endowment

Bruce DeVore grew up on a farm between Des Arc and Hazen; the farm was recently designated an 'Arkansas Century Farm' by the state's Department of Agriculture. After high school graduation and service with the National Guard, DeVore moved to Pulaski County and spent his career doing body work; he also put in an additional 15 years in the National Guard and 14 years in the Army Reserve.

Because he thought students from Prairie County ought to be able to earn a college degree if they chose to, DeVore established the Earl and Bruce DeVore Endowed Scholarship with funds he and his sister earned from liquidating Walmart stock. Additionally, Bruce has included A-State in his trust to further increase the endowment in memory of his father Earl, his grandfather John, and his great grandfather Jacob.

DeVore said he wanted to be able to see how his gift benefited students as they learn about agriculture.
