George Cotton and Deloris Shields-Cotton

Endowed Scholarship

George and Deloris grew up as neighbors in West Helena; they like to say they began dating when they were 12 years old. They are parents to two sons. As A-State graduates, the couple has attended all but two Homecomings since 1982. Deloris is a middle-school teacher in St. Louis, a former Kachina Dancer and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority member, who tutors students, performs with her church's Praise Dance team and lands performing theatre roles in her spare time. George serves as vice president of University Advancement at Florida A&M University and is also the current president of A-State's Strong-Turner Alumni Chapter. George is known for his Red Wolf spirit and positive energy. The couple said they love Arkansas State, the opportunity they were provided and the life they've enjoyed. Their gift assures future generations of A-State students will have that same opportunity.
