Judy L. Cole
The Herbert G. and Mary A. Cole Scholarship Endowment
Having come from a home in which education was important, Judy Cole believed education was part of her destiny—her father was a member of the Bono and Craighead County school boards for decades; her mother taught every grade for about 30 years; and her sister was also a teacher. After one semester at Arkansas State, Judy knew teaching was not for her. Because of President John F. Kennedy's emphasis on physical education, she believed that was her career path.
Following graduation, she worked for General Electric in Dallas, Texas, when she happened upon a job as a telephone representative with American Airlines. To date, she's traveled to 71 countries across all seven continents.
In honor of her parents who provided her with the foundation that a college degree was beneficial to her, Judy has established a scholarship for average students who'll attend A-State from Westside High School, a consolidated school her father helped name.
