Jerry & Christina Burchfield
Endowed Scholarship in the College of Business
Having grown up in a single-parent household in Northeast Arkansas, Jerry Burchfield had little family financial support to enter college. Thanks to the advice of Dean Robert Moore and the encouragement of accounting professor Joseph Wellborn, Jerry applied for scholarships and grants, and earned tuition money from a part-time job to complete his accounting degree at A-State.
Jerry is a co-owner/principal in the Little Rock public accounting firm of Pickering, Burchfield, Griffin and Haney; it is the firm in which he began his accounting career. Christina is retired from the Employee Health department at Baptist Health.
The Burchfields have committed a portion of their estate to benefit their favorite charities, one of which is Arkansas State University. Future accounting or business students will benefit from their generosity in the form scholarship assistance.
