Mr. and Mrs. F. O'Neil Griffin

– Griffin Scholars

Education is important to Neil Griffin; important enough that he walked from the Needham community in Craighead County to the Nettleton Public Schools. He then went on to earn his bachelor's degree at Arkansas State in 1948. His career has included professional accounting, banking, investment banking, and he has served as CEO of two publicly held corporations. He now resides in Kerrville, Texas, where he is primarily engaged in philanthropy and investments.

Through the Griffin family foundation, Mr. Griffin presented the largest endowed commitment in Arkansas State's history to establish the Griffin Scholars, which will assist incoming freshmen from Arkansas and the Missouri bootheel with tuition, fees, on-campus housing and books, and provide for a semester to study abroad.

Griffin Scholars will reflect the best of A-State; students will perform community service, participate in the university's honors program and continue their outstanding academic performance.

Mr. Griffin's selfless gift will ensure future generations of Griffin Scholars will make a positive impact on our region and our world.
